Inspired by vintage home movies and photographs, Janelle White captures the joy and nostalgia of 1950’s holiday-making in a series of colourful genre paintings. With pastel hues and low-detail rendering of forms "Life Stills" fondly celebrates the mystery and banality of fleeting moments of leisure, inviting the viewer to create their own narrative about the anonymous people depicted from historical refence material.
