Each year, budding artists aged 50 and over pick up their paintbrushes and enter the prestigious Grandma Moses Art Competition and Exhibition.

This long-standing fixture on the cultural calendar takes inspiration from the life and work of Anna Mary Robertson Moses. Better known as Grandma Moses', she became famous for her evocative artworks that depicted American rural life, after taking up painting in her 70s.

With more than $3,000 in prize money on offer, this annual competition provides opportunities for all kinds of artistic endeavours, and proves that age is no barrier to success.

Entry forms must be in by Friday 23 August, 2019, and all entered paintings must be delivered on Monday 9 September to the Gosford 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre 217 Albany Street North, Gosford. All entries will be exhibited from Tuesday, 10 September to Thursday, 12 September.

Prize-winners will be announced at the Centre on Tuesday, 10 September at 10.30am. Entrants and friends are all welcome to a morning tea following the presentations.
