Learn how to create and alter an animal or human to express unique characteristics and movement from photographic reference. This course will be useful for illustrators and authors who would either like to develop their own style for their characters, or be better prepared to brief an illustrator with specific stylistic qualities.

During the class, students will develop their character or scene through pencil sketches. A range of examples and discussion of media choices will be provided to further determine a unique stylistic approach for individual projects.

Students are to bring an A4 cartridge sketch pad or book, 2B & 6B pencils, eraser, sharpener, visual photographic reference material, and script for a character or scene they would like to develop further.

Jill is the author and illustrator of several children’s books and has produced award-winning animated films.
