Roxanne Kenny elected as new Council President

In addressing the resignation of Sid Anderson as President, at their Ordinary meeting today, the MacDonnell Regional Council has elected Roxanne Kenny as their new President.
The succession to the prime leadership role of MacDonnell Regional Council followed an internal secret ballot. Roxanne Kenny’s election to the role of President followed her eight year commitment to Council in the role of Deputy President.
Ms Kenny’s promotion left the Deputy President position open for election and following another secret ballot, Braydon Williams was elected to the role.
The newly elected President and Deputy President will lead MacDonnell Regional Council to the next general council elections that are scheduled to be held in August 2017.
“I am keen to see Council continue in its business, as usual” President elect Roxanne Kenny said.Roxanne Kenny has served as Deputy President on the MacDonnell Regional Council since it was formed as a Shire in 2008. She is the elected Councillor of the Ljirapinta Ward and has sat on Council’s Finance Committee and Audit Committee throughout that period. Roxanne has also represented her community in elected roles with the Tjuwanpa Outstation Resource Centre Aboriginal Corporation, Ngurratjuta / Pmara Ntjarra Aboriginal Corporation and Central Land Council.
Before closing her first meeting as the incumbent, President Kenny moved a motion acknowledging the great contribution made by his predecessor, Sid Anderson, to the establishment, success and stability of the MacDonnell Regional Council. The motion was supported unanimously by Council.
