Gippsland Regional Livestock Exchange has recently celebrated its one year anniversary since the completion of its $3.3 million refurbishment last year.

Since the official opening in April 2016, the Gippsland Regional Livestock Exchange (GRLE) has achieved a whole multitude of accomplishments and objectives with throughput up 13% to March 2017 compared to 2016.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley says, “The refurbished facility features modern infrastructure, including soft flooring, new weighing and drafting facilities and a rain water capture and reuse. Feedback from producers, stock agents, buyers and transporters has been overwhelmingly positive.”

This state of the art facility is the preferred choice for buying and selling livestock across the Shire. It offers buyers and sellers a modern, safe and fully maintained facility that is second to none. The GRLE is delighted to be moving towards its long-term direction of a sustainable and well respected livestock selling facility.

Wayne Osborne, Chief Executive Officer of Victorian Livestock Exchange, the lessee and operator of GRLE, said: “The refurbishment has ticked a lot of boxes and has assisted the facility to perform better, particularly in relation to environmental impacts”,

Mr Osborne also added, “A big tick has to go to the stock agents as well. There’s been a lot of changes they’ve had to adjust to in a short time and they’ve really grabbed the ball and run with it.”

Local farmer, John MacLachlan, further adds, “The refurbished yards are a huge lift to the Sale community and our local agricultural industry.

“We have not only achieved state-of-the-art livestock selling facilities, but the livestock benefit from the soft flooring and being undercover.
