Wellington Shire Council’s $1.4 million refurbishment of the Yarram streetscape is now complete after months of hard work.

The works took place along Commercial Road from the Yarram Courthouse to the BP Service Station. They included installing a concrete edge strip, drainage works, Charcoal coloured footpath finishes with feature textured concrete aggregate strips, kerb works, bluestone centre median edge strip works, irrigation to the centre median, resurfacing of parking bays to compliment road resurfacing being undertaken by VicRoads and tree planting.

Wellington Shire Councillor Garry Stephens, thanks the community for their patience whilst the works took place and for their input throughout the design and planning of this project.

“We have received very positive feedback from residents and business owners. If you remember what the street looked like before the works started compared to how it looks now, there is a huge visual improvement and the area is much more attractive,” said Cr Stephens.

John Jeffs of Yarram Drycleaners, was very complimentary about the finished works. “I think that the place looks absolutely fantastic. It has certainly brightened the place up and is more attractive to locals and visitors,” he said.

Council would also like to thank their contractors for their great work and VicRoads and South Gippsland Water who helped to deliver the finished product.
