Gippsland Small Business Festival continues in 2017

Wellington Shire Council is pleased to be a partner once again in the annual Gippsland Small Business Festival in August 2017, which is part of the state-wide Victorian Small Business Festival.

Throughout Gippsland, during August, there will be many workshops and events on topics that small businesses want to know about, including how to develop marketing ideas, what are the latest trends and digital tools to convert leads into sales and learning from others’ successes and failures.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley said that the Gippsland Small Business Festival is a great opportunity to learn the secrets of small business success.

“The festival ensures business owners, entrepreneurs and even those just thinking about starting out can have the knowledge and resources required to achieve great things”, said the Mayor.

“Rural and regional Victoria is home to around 28 per cent of small businesses, and particularly in Gippsland, they are the heart and soul of many communities.

“Victoria has the highest growth of new businesses with more than 15,300 created last year alone. There are now more than 556,000 small businesses in Victoria. That’s thousands of examples of small businesses thriving and surviving.

“I would encourage all small businesses in the area to make the most of the workshops and events on offer.”

The signature event of the festival is a two-hour presentation by Dee Madigan on Why Creativity Matters in Marketing. This event is being staged in each of the six Gippsland Council areas and will be held in the Shire at the Criterion Hotel in Sale from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Monday 28 August 2017. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential.   

Dee Madigan is the founder and Executive Director of Campaign Edge and she is a regular on Sunrise and the Gruen Transfer. In her insightful and influential presentation, Dee will demonstrate how creative marketing ideas can be used to successfully influence others to change their behaviour.

The Victoria Government's Small Business Bus is also visiting the Shire during August offering free mentoring from an experienced business professional. The bus will be located near the Clocktower on Raymond Street in Sale from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday 22 August 2017.
