At its Ordinary Council meeting on Tuesday 18 July, Wellington Shire awarded the tender for the Charlies Street Loch Sport Boat Ramp project.
The successful contractor is Jarvis Norwood Constructions Pty Ltd, a civil construction contractor based at Swan Reach, with over 30 years of experience in marina and wharf construction.
Wellington Shire Council Deputy Mayor Alan Hall is delighted that the works are finally getting underway. He said: “The boat ramp at Charlies Street in Loch Sport is essential for boating users and it is fantastic that this project is moving ahead. The local community and visitors will get great benefit from the upgrade to this boat ramp once it is complete and it complements the other upgrades to the area such as the foreshore development.”
Works will commence in September and include: construction of an additional boat ramp, the replacement of the fixed jetty, the construction of a floating jetty and additional car parking and access works.
The works will be scheduled to cause minimal disruption to boat users and access to one boat ramp will be maintained at all times and are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
The tender and evaluation process was conducted over several weeks with a focus on areas such as the tenderer’s capacity to deliver the project and achieving best value for money.
