YPC Caravan Parks Upgrades Enhance Tourism

Yorke Peninsula Council Caravan Parks have installed a variety of new accommodation options and infrastructure upgrades throughout three of their premier caravan parks. Building projects have included new self-contained villa accommodation, outdoor equipment and landscaping as well upgrades to powered sites at the Marion Bay, Point Turton and Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Parks.

At Marion Bay Caravan Park four new two-bedroom villas have recently been completed with two of these being disability compliant.  All villas have a deck with sea views and sleep a maximum of 6 people.   Outdoor activities at the park include free mountain bike hire including a fun tandem bike, giant chess and a kangaroo jumper for the little people.

Point Turton Caravan Park has installed three LuxePods which are the first of their kind built within a Caravan Park.  Two of the LuxePods are two bedroom with the third being a three bedroom/two bathroom spacious family accommodation.  All are built on the upper level of the park with breathtaking views of Hardwicke Bay.  Four new lawned powered sites have also been included on the upper level.   Mountain bikes are available for free hire to tour the magnificent Point Turton surrounds or for use on the Walk the Yorke trail.

A luxurious 3 bedroom villa has been completed at the Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park.  The villa is situated on the northern tip of Surveyor Point with a deck overlooking the spectacular 270 degree views of St Vincent Gulf and the Bay.   It sleeps up to 8 people and contains a luxury ensuite with spa bath and a disabled compliant second bathroom.  The eastern caravan sites have been newly landscaped with luxurious lawn.  Activity additions include free mountain bike hire, giant chess, connect 4 and a kangaroo jumper.  As a silver award winner at the 2016 SA Tourism Awards and a regular winner of the YP Tourism Awards Most Outstanding Tourist and Caravan Park, the Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park continues to be a major drawcard to our region.

Scenic Selfie frames were installed in all three towns last year and have been extremely popular with both locals and tourists, contributing to increased marketing of the peninsula.

The newly renovated YPC caravan parks will remain at the forefront of the tourism industry on Yorke Peninsula and continue to provide a major contribution to our tourism economy.
