We are celebrating Parks Week throughout Wellington Shire, with a heap of events happening locally.
Parks Week is held annually to raise awareness of the value of parks and open spaces, getting people out of their homes and into the great outdoors.
Taking place in Sale, we have a number of events that take in the environment of the Sale Botanic Gardens, the Longford Swing Bridge area, the Port of Sale, Sale Common Nature Conservation Reserve and the Sale Skate Park.
Whether you enjoy exercising in these spaces or simply kicking back to relax, there is an event for everyone taking place in Sale during Parks Week.
One of the major attractions will be the annual Sale Music Festival, which always draws a large crowd at the Sale Botanic Gardens.
The inaugural Race the Rubeena community fun run will also be held, for those who fancy a 5km or 10km run or walk.
Baby’s Day Out is always popular with little ones aged from birth to four and the whole family is invited to the Sale Lions Club Kids Fun Day in the Sale Mall.
Yarram will host a family fun day at the Yarram Memorial Park, along with fitness classes throughout the week.
In Port Albert, why not join in the 2018 Seaside Festival run by the historic Port Albert Boat Club.
Victoria Park in Maffra will come alive for the Maffra Neighbourhood House Family Day, while the local Rotary Club will hold a community market on the Maffra Island Reserve.
School children are invited to take part in a bike ride from Cowwarr to Heyfield for the Pedal to Parks event along the Gippsland Rail Trail.
Whatever you decide to do during Parks Week, there is an event to suit you and your family, so get out there and have fun!
