Cycling is a great way to save money, help the environment, get fit and enjoy the great outdoors, and we’re fortunate to have a wealth of commuter cycling paths and wandering scenic bike trails here in Boroondara.
As a bicycle-friendly City, we support our cyclists through bike repair stations, safe cycling tips, bicycle education workshops and maps and guides for planning your cycling routes.
We are also committed to supporting and encouraging safe cycling to school.
Support for schoolsWe recently launched our 2018 Safe and Active travel program resources and events for schools.
The programs we support include:
Ride2School Day 23 March 2018
As its name suggests, Ride2School Day is a national day celebrating and promoting riding to school. We provide support for active travel initiatives such as breakfasts and competitions.
Walk or Wheel Wednesday Challenge Term 2 2018
For the Walk or Wheel Wednesday Challenge, schools compete against each other for the trophy and prizes by recording the number of active travel journeys their students make each Wednesday of Term 2. We provide financial and practical support for the program.
Bike It Challenge 21 November 2018
Bike It Challenge is an annual event where schools compete against each other in bike education challenges. This is a free event for schools with all resources, prizes and food provided.
