The cooler autumn months are an ideal time to get out and get fit with family and friends and it just got easier with Council opening new circuit walking paths in Bossley Park and Wetherill Park this month.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the paths add to the almost 1000 kilometres of paths and cycle ways across the City. “With backyards getting smaller and life busier, it’s more important than ever for Council to provide a variety of recreational areas and opportunities for residents to lead healthy lifestyles,” Mayor Carbone said. “The new 310-metre long path in Bossley Park’s Benghazi Park bends sensitively through one of Fairfield City’s protected native woodland taking environmental protection into account. It’s a beautiful shaded walk and connects with other existing circuit paths provided by Council. “The path is 1.4 metres wide, big enough for a brisk stroll or children to ride bikes. There is also a seat installed to provide a rest stop. “The Rosford Reserve, Wetherill Park path is a 500-metre long path that connects to an existing walkway near the grandstand, making for a much longer walk for residents. “In addition, the newly installed circuit walking path at Bosnjak Park in Edensor Park will shortly be complemented with outdoor fitness equipment to give residents the opportunity to mix-up their walk with a full body workout using the dip bench, parallel bars and push up bars. “Council also recently installed a 750-metre circuit walking path at the park at St Johns Park as part of the recreation area’s upgrade.” “Council will continue to build circuit walking tracks across the City. I encourage residents to use the new paths as an opportunity to get out and about and spend quality time with friends and family and get fit. The best thing about it is it’s free to use.”
