Fairfield City Council will again proudly provide an exciting Youth Week program as part of its commitment to young people from Fairfield City and the wider Western Sydney region.

Kicking off with the massive Bring It On! Festival, Council’s flagship youth music, sports and arts festival, the Youth Week program provides awesome entertainment for young people of all abilities and backgrounds to come together and enjoy.

“Council has proudly upped the ante on delivering quality entertainment for young people with this year’s huge Bring It On! Festival on Sunday 15 April,” Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said.

“The new Fairfield Warrior Competition will be a big attraction for festivalgoers, with competitors testing their strength and stamina in a custom built obstacle course which features nine obstacle zones including suspended ropes, a climbing wall and crash pool.”

The individual winner of the Open competition (ages 12+) will become Fairfield Warrior and win $1,000 in both male and female categories. Local high school students can take part in the School Age competition to win a cash prize of $500 for best male and female.

A DJ will entertain the Fairfield Warrior crowd, while an inflatable all-ages obstacle course will provide plenty of free interactive entertainment for families and include fun competitions with great prizes.

“Following impressive performances at last year’s Bring It On! Festival, I’m happy that former X-Factor finalist Vlado, local band Yours Truly and singer Olina Loau will return to wow the crowds with amazing live performances,” Mayor Carbone said.

“They will be joined by Rachael Fahim, The Comfort, Undercast, HURST, Fiveash, Cleveland Dreamers, Tori Dunbar and Caio Ferraz, among other talented performers.”

“To top it off, there will be food trucks, plus many rides, sports and yard games, dance competitions, live street art, a photo booth, youth services stalls and giveaways and more.”

Mayor Carbone said Council was proud to continue delivering for the Fairfield City youth community.

“In 2017 we received a Local Government Youth Week Award for Best On-Going Commitment to Youth Week, acknowledging Council’s proud dedication to providing an exciting, engaging and educational Youth Week for the young people of Fairfield City,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Almost 20% of our City’s population is aged 12-24, which means it’s important Council and I continue supporting our City’s young people through various programs and events such as Youth Week by providing great entertainment and education, confidence and skills opportunities that will benefit our City’s future leaders.”

“In line with this year’s theme for Youth Week, ‘Unity through Diversity,’ Council has worked alongside its Youth Advisory Committee to ensure inclusive events for young people of all abilities and backgrounds are provided.”

Bring It On! Festival is drug and alcohol-free and will be held at Fairfield Showground on Sunday 15 April, 10.30am-7.30pm. Free transport will be provided between Bring It On! Festival and Fairfield, Cabramatta and Canley Vale stations all day.

Attendees are encouraged to use the hashtags #BringItOnFest and #YouthWeekNSW.

Youth Week is held throughout NSW between 13 and 22 April 2018.
