Residents and dignitaries braved the chilly air for the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph, Tennant Creek RSL Club grounds on Schmidt Street. Groups then gathered at the Transit Centre (Greyhound depot) for the Commemorative Service and Main Street march at 9.15am, arriving at the RSL Club for morning service at 10am. Warumungu elder Ross Williams welcomed guests to country followed by an address by Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, who gave a rousing speech about freedom and democracy. Father John Kennedy from Christ the King Catholic Church led the prayers, Natasha Civitarese sang the national anthem and SGT Pam Dillon was MC. Various dignitaries and different organisations from around Tennant Creek lay down wreaths. Later, there was two-up and music at the Tennant Creek RSL Club from noon until late.
