The Victorian Wheelchair Football League is coming to Boroondara, with the season commencing on Sunday 6 May at Boroondara Sports Complex.
Wheelchair Football is an exciting new brand of Aussie Rules that has been modified for people with a physical disability. Handballing is the equivalent of a kick and underarm throws replace regular handballs and the game is played on a basketball or netball court, with goal posts at each end.
There will be a Come and Try event at the Boroondara Sports Complex on Sunday 15 April, 11am to 1pm for those who are interested in learning more about the sport.
This is an open event and everyone is welcome, regardless of their ability.
If you don’t have a sports wheelchair but would still like to take part, Disability Sport & Recreation will be providing chairs to use on the day.
People who would like to play in the league are also invited to the draft combine at Boroondara Sports Complex on Sunday 22 April.
