Redeveloped Balwyn Library is now open

The Balwyn Library has reopened to the public after the completion of a $8.9 million redevelopment.

Thank you for your patience over the past fortnight while we restacked the shelves and moved back into our spacious new home at 336 Whitehorse Road, Balwyn.

For the new design, we listened to your feedback and created a more attractive and useable community space with plenty of natural light. The new layout provides better collection access, comfortable casual reading and study spaces, and a quiet area separated from the main library.

There are a range of options for group meetings: a small meeting room can be booked during opening hours and a large refurbished room can be booked after hours. 

This major investment brings new life to Boroondara’s most popular library, where our community have been meeting and learning since 1978. Discover Balwyn Library’s first 40 years in our exhibition displayed in the foyer, and during April, the kids can burn off some energy at the Fit-tastic Easter Holidays program, with fitness-themed storytimes and performances.
