Following community feedback, Snowy Monaro Regional Council has committed to a re-design of the Bombala Platypus Viewing Platform.

At the March 15 Council Meeting, Councillors voted in favour of incorporating the Viewing Platform into the Therry Street redevelopment. The Viewing Platform will complement the Therry St upgrade, a project to be delivered through the Stronger Communities Fund Major Projects Program.

“The Viewing Platform will be re-designed to better reflect the community’s expectations for the site,” Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor, John Rooney, said.

“We have engaged a professional landscape designer to re-evaluate the Viewing Platform. This will ensure it meets the evolving needs of the community and attracts visitors to Bombala.”

The Viewing Platform has been designed to create a community space, as well as offering a unique opportunity to spot one of Australia’s most loved animals, the Platypus.

Council is encouraging the community to visit the Your Say Snowy Monaro website to inspect the concept design and provide feedback. This community consultation period will close on Thursday 14 June 2018.
