Entries are flowing in for this year’s Mayor’s Poster Challenge, with East Gippsland Shire Council reminding young people the challenge closes on Friday, June 1.
Mayor Cr Joe Rettino said the poster challenge is a great opportunity for the region’s young people to demonstrate their knowledge of recycling and waste management in a creative way.
“The challenge is for young people across East Gippsland to design a poster promoting a message about recycling and waste management,” Cr Rettino said.
“We’re looking for posters that have a clear message, are bright, eye-catching and unique. The message does not have to be written in words; it can be shown using pictures and colours.”
There are four age groups for the challenge: 5-7 years, 8-10 years, 11-13 years and 14 - 18 years. For the oldest age group the theme for posters is ‘Creating Less Waste’.
“We had some fantastic entries last year and it was very hard to choose the winners. I am looking forward to seeing this year’s entries,” Cr Rettino said.
Winners and runners up from each category will receive cool eco-themed prizes including solar powered gadgets and eco-friendly art supplies. There are also shield trophies and Worms Down Under worm farms up for grabs for schools.
Entry forms are available at our Customer Service Centres. All entries must be submitted to a council office or put in the mail by Friday, June 1.
