Following an unprecedented demand for the flu vaccine this year, supplies have become short across all Australian states and territories.
The Victorian Government has asked all immunisation providers to prioritise administering the flu vaccine for people in particular risk groups.
Until further notice, Council’s flu vaccine program is on hold, except for those in the risk groups listed below.
Those in the following risk groups will continue to receive the vaccine for free from Council:
children* aged 6 months to 5 years (Victorian funded) people aged 5 years and over who have certain medical conditions which increase the risk of influenza disease complications pregnant women anytime during pregnancy Aboriginal people aged 15 years and over adults aged 65 years and older.* For children less than nine years of age, two doses spaced by one month in the first year of flu vaccination are given. If two doses were not administered in the first year, a single dose only is given in the subsequent year.
Updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
