Community Service Volunteer Award Jeremy WoodRotary Club of Cambridge
Jeremy was nominated for his outstanding leadership and for setting a good example in the community. He served as President of Rotary Club of Cambridge for the past three years.
During his service, he has presided over 150 meetings in which members of the community had the opportunities to hear interesting speakers on a wide range of subjects. He has worked closely with Elected Members and staff at the Town of Cambridge to assist in providing community services to residents. He has collaborated with council representatives, local schools, community organisations and sporting clubs to organise regular community activities such as Arbour Day or sausage sizzles and other fundraising activities. He regularly attends Council events such as the Australia Day Festival or the Town's citizenship ceremonies to represent and raise the profile of the Club and to promote volunteering within the community. As a Club president, he has used innovation and creativity to widen the scope of the Club activities to better serve the community. He has been a key advocator for the development of a new Community Men’s Shed, instigated a new project working closely with primary schools and provided fundraising opportunities for local sports clubs.

Craig McIntyreFloreat Surf Life Saving Club
Craig was nominated for his valuable contribution to the safety of the Cambridge Community by ensuring that the Town has an abundance of young volunteers to maintain safety at its beaches. Craig served for 19 years as a patrol member and 8 years in the role of Cadets Coordinator at the Floreat Surf Life Saving Club. He was responsible for initiating the cadet's camp for 15-16 year olds to transition from the Nippers program to Bronze Medallion certification. He identified a gap in the clubs program between the Nippers obtaining their Surf Rescue certification at age 14 and having to wait until 16 years of age before they can obtain their Bronze Medallion. During the two year gap, the club was experiencing significant loss in junior memberships. Craig implemented a format for the weekly cadet sessions that allows qualified juniors to meet patrolling commitments whilst having the opportunity to develop surf-craft skills. The program also allows for the opportunities for cadets to participate in semi-structured social activities with their peers. This has proven to be successful in retaining memberships as well as creating a pathway from junior to adult surf-lifesaving.
Cathrine McIntyeFloreat Surf Life Saving Club
Cathrine was nominated for her valuable service to the community for the provision of beach safety, community education, youth training and development and club management. Cathrine has been a member of the surf lifesaving club since 2009 and implemented new strategies which saw enrolment numbers increased significantly for the Nippers Program. She also made major improvements to the club's formal training including the implementation of a mentorship program designed to encourage the development of youth members as Trainers, improving their leadership skills and general confidence whilst also ensuring the correct use of the supplies and equipment provided by Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA), an approach which was later adopted by SLSWA.
Cathrine has been a valuable contributor to the club, dedicating most of her weekends to training members to develop their surf lifesaving skills and obtain their Surf Sea Rescue qualifications. She has been a strong advocate of the surf lifesaving services including member education and youth development and training.
Youth Volunteer Award Max Anderson - LoakeCity of Perth Surf Life Saving Club
Max was nominated for his outstanding service to the City of Perth Surf Lifesaving Club where he served as Patrol Captain and Vice-Captain over a period of seven years. He is an inspiration to the younger members of the club competing at state and national levels and is a leader of the Iron Man squad and lifeguarding competition. He is responsible for beach safety and holds an impressive patrol attendance records even giving up his Christmas Day. He contributes to the safety of the Cambridge Community and has participated in numerous rescues. Max is a wonderful ambassador and role model to club members and the community.
