Local and international students from across Melbourne will be brought together with industry leaders for a thought-provoking day of learning, ideas exchange and professional development.
Chair of the International Engagement portfolio, Councillor Philip Le Liu, said as a founding partner, the City of Melbourne is excited to continue supporting the conference as a showcase of Melbourne's booming international student community.
"The MISC has fast become a highly celebrated feature of the international student calendar, and for good reason," Cr Le Liu said.
"The conference is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with industry professionals and help develop their future career prospects, and highlights why Melbourne is such a popular choice for international students.
"Melbourne has just this week been named the world's third best city for university students, an incredible achievement; with global higher education analysts QS recognising the significant growth and wealth of opportunities on offer for those who choose Melbourne to pursue their studies.
"Melbourne prides itself on its reputation as one of the World's Most Liveable Cities and an attractive destination for students and it's a glowing endorsement from QS that we've been ranked third only behind London and Tokyo."
The theme for this year's MISC is 'Purpose, Change, Impact', offering students the rare opportunity to ask important questions of the 'who, what, how and why of life and work'.
Cr Le Liu will open the conference, followed by a keynote address from international student alumni Dr Kaushik Sridhar; the former corporate citizenship manager of KPMG and now Head of Sustainability at Regis Healthcare.
The address will be followed by a range of educational workshops and professional development sessions and a networking night at Melbourne Town Hall.
The Melbourne International Student Conference was established in 2014 in a partnership between Meld Community and the City of Melbourne. RMIT University is a principle partner for the MISC 2018.
From 2014 to 2017, the conference has provided targeted leadership and professional development opportunities to more than 400 students across Victoria.
