Cafe culture meets The River
AlburyCity News 17 May 2018

AlburyCity is delighted to unveil Ken Raff’s sculpture, The River, in a high-profile location on the corner of Dean Street and Creek Street in the CBD.

The River is a thought-provoking abstract work which, in the words of the artist, depicts the links between Albury’s café culture and the Murray River.

The sculpture was commissioned by the Regional Art Gallery for AlburyCity and funded by the NSW Ministry for the Arts, the Albury Wodonga Regional Art Foundation and Colin Joss Ltd in 2003.

It is part of ongoing plans to develop cultural and artistic assets throughout the city.

The River was originally installed outside what is now MAMA but was taken down to allow for MAMA’s construction.

The new location was chosen for its symbolic connection to the river and the CBD.
