Thursday 24 May 2018
Join us to celebrate Refugee Week by recognising the important and positive contributions that refugees make to our Yarra community.
This years theme is 'with Refugees' which highlights the move to a more politicised position in 2018 for the recognition and rights of people who have and now seek refuge in Australia.
We will be hosting 2 free events in Yarra during the week.
Abe Nouk Poetry performanceJoin us at Fitzroy Library on Thursday 21 June from 7pm to 8pm to experience Abe Nouk's poetry performance.
Abe Nouk, born in Sudan, was illiterate when he and his family arrive in Australia in 2004 under the UN High Commission Refugee Status. His realisation of freedom of speech inspired his talent as an author and performer of written words.
His unique perspective enriches the Australian landscape.
