Youth Council
Applications are now open for the 2018/2019 Bathurst Regional Youth Council. The Youth Council provides an opportunity for young people aged between 15 and 18 years to engage with the Council and other youth service providers. Applications close at 4.00 pm on Tuesday 12 June 2018 and forms are available on Council’s website. For more information call Council on 6333 6523.
Controlled Burn
A controlled burn for hazard reduction purposes will occur at the old sale yards on Monday 21 May
from 7.30am - 4.00pm. Traffic control measures on Vale Road will be in place. For more information phone Council on 6333 6111.
Community Pet Desexing Program
In partnership with the RSPCA, Council is holding a community pet desexing program, which will run
from 4 June to 15 June. This program is open to pensioners and low income earners who are Bathurst residents. The program provides a subsidised cost for the desexing of cats and dogs, with the cost of mircochipping included. First vaccinations are included for dogs only. Pain relief and hospitalisation are included in the cost for both dogs and cats.

National Simultaneous Storytime
The Library will host National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 23 May at 11.00am. This year’s book is Hickory Dickory Dash. Activities include a colouring competition to win book prizes donated by Books Plus.

Author talk at the Library
Join author, film director and artist Michael Rubbo on Friday 1 June at 6.15pm to discuss his book "Travels With My Art". After making his Emmy award-winning film Vincent and Me, Michael discovered a love for painting outside and working with sticky oil paints- just like Van Gogh. Since this new discovery he has been on a mission through his book to spread the magic.

Temporary Road Closures
Limekilns Road
Limekilns Road, between Hughes Street and Marsden Lane will be temporarily closed to traffic on Monday 14 May to Friday 22 June for road and stormwater works. Local traffic will be allowed to access McBrien Drive from east bound direction during the period of the closure.
Bathurst and Prince Streets
Bathurst Street, between Bridge and North Streets, along with Prince Street between Bathurst andChurch Streets will be temporarily closed during May and June 2018 for road and stormwater works.Resident access will be maintained during the closure.
Perthville Square concept report
In July 2017, Bathurst Regional Council commissioned Group GSA Pty Ltd to prepare a design for the Perthville Village Square in which a range of activities, inclusions and future use options were identified. The Concept Report has now been prepared and Council is seeking community feedback

Draft Economic Development Strategy
Council is seeking the community’s feedback on the draft Bathurst Region Economic Development Strategy 2018-2022. An information session will be held on Thursday, 3May commencing at 12.30pm in the Bathurst Regional Council Chambers, First Floor, 158 Russell Street, Bathurst.

Applications for Heritage Grants now open
Three heritage funding programs are available to assist in the repair and interpretation of buildings in the region.
Applications are invited for small grants to assist property owners and community groups to repair and conserve older properties in the Bathurst region, interpret and promote the region’s heritage and history, and to repair and improve properties in the Bathurst CBD. Abandoned shopping trolleys
Abandoned shopping trolleys are an issue for our community and can be hazardous and unsightly.
It is illegal to abandon a shopping trolley in a public place and offenders can be issued with a $110 on the spot fine. Most retailers have systems in place to collect trolleys that have been removed from stores and car parks. For details visit bathurst.nsw.gov.au

Building Bathurst Book Launch
Graham Lupp’s publication, Building Bathurst, will be officially launched at 6.00 pm on Friday 25 May at BMEC. Members of the public are invited to attend.
