Everyone’s a winner with Booklink
Bathurst 28 May 2018

MEDIA RELEASE 9 May 2018

The winners of Bathurst Library’s annual Booklink program will be announced on Monday, 21 May.

Booklink is an annual reading initiative that encourages children to borrow, read and record books over the course of the program.

Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said programs such as these are of a great benefit to our community.

“As a former teacher, I understand that reading is an essential skill and a foundation for the journey of learning,” he said.

“The Booklink program helps reinforce literacy skills for children in our community that will help them through their school years and in later life.”

The ceremony will see all 71 participants of this year’s reading program receive awards. They will be joined by guests Janifer Torner, President of the Bathurst CWA, and owner and manager of BooksPlus, Kathryn Bancroft.

The event commences at 5.30pm and will involve the presentation of awards for participation and encouragement as well as awards for special categories and overall best readers. Every participant will receive acknowledgement of their reading achievements. Refreshments will be offered after the ceremony and special guests will be available for photo opportunities after the event.

Booklink is supported by the Bathurst Branch of the CWA and BooksPlus Bathurst who generously offer donations of vouchers, money and prizes to contribute towards the ongoing success of the program.
