Nature, food, wine, distilleries, history and charm, there's no shortage of photo opps in the Adelaide Hills. Thanks to some very talented photographers out and about in the region lately, we've curated our top 5 Instagrammable Adelaide Hills hotspots.

1. Mount Barker Summit

See as far as Mount Lofty from the opposite end of the Adelaide Hills at Mount Barker Summit. Spectacular views of hills, valleys and rocky outcrops make this a must photograph at sunrise, sunset and as the seasons change. It's pretty much Insta-worthy all year!

The summit is easily accessed from either Mount Barker via Springs Road and Summit Road, or from Nairne via Bartley Street and Summit Road by car, with a short walk up the summit hill.

2. The old railway tunnel

While we don't have the exact geolocation for this abandoned tunnel, we do know it is in Mount Barker, possibly part of the SteamRanger Heritage Railway line. It's a secret spot that takes some research to find, but once you do it makes for some pretty epic pics!

3. Perfect pair - Mount Lofty Botanic Garden and Mount Lofty Summit

An obvious choice but a winner no matter what the season. Every nook has something different to offer thank to a huge variety of foliage, and of course you can't beat it from the air (drone photographers do need to get prior permission).

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden @isaacforman

Rising more than 710m above sea level, the summit provides a picturesque panoramic view over Adelaide’s city skyline and as far as Kangaroo Island and Yorke Peninsula on clear days. Hike to the top on leafy tracks and see what awaits - each day is different dependent on the weather!

4. The winding roads of the Adelaide Hills

Upper Sturt Road through Crafers, Deviation Road through Carey Gully and Tiers and Coldstore Roads in Lenswood are winding roads with incredible vantage points. Often blanketed in winter fog, they're great spots for those moody, leafy, foggy shots. These roads are narrow at points and full of sharp turns, so just be sure to pull over safely into a designated stopping area to get that elusive shot!

5. Food, produce, wine and vines in the Adelaide Hills

It's no secret the Adelaide Hills is awash with incredible eateries, wineries, distilleries and artisan producers, so it's no surprise that some of the best IG worthy spots are on the Epicurean Way. Affectionately known as the land of the long lunch, almost every cellar door offers something different, with views second to none.

You'll find roadside produce stalls dotted along the way and artisan cheese, chocolate and preserve producers in every town. The Adelaide Hills are also an incredible fruit picking destination offering drool worthy photo opps of figs, cherries, strawberries and apples in orchards that allow you to pick your own.
