Main Road’s hotel history reflected in public artwork
Ballarat (City) 25 May 2018

Main Road’s hotel history will be highlighted via a unique public art project.

A Travis Price artwork highlighting the large number of hotels that used to preside over the hustle and bustle of Main Rd will adorn the side of the current Catfish Thai building.

The artwork will be part of the Main Road Revitalisation Project, which aims to interpret the area’s significant stories, along with streetscape upgrades.

Local traders, council officers and council’s heritage advisor have worked together to identify nine Main Road stories of significance for interpretation, including its publican past.

The owners of Catfish Thai, Damien and Danielle Jones, joined the council’s Public Art Advisory Committee to choose the final artwork.
