The project, funded by the Victorian Planning Authority, will look at ways to improve the operation of the station including car parking and services, opportunities for investment around the station and ways to improve the links between the station and Ararat CBD and surrounds.

This work comes on the back of State Government plans to upgrade the Ballarat Line for a future increase in V/Line services to and from Ararat.

Ararat Rural City Council Acting Mayor, Cr Gwenda Allgood said as much feedback from the community would be welcomed.

“We’d like to know how people use the Ararat Railway Station precinct and what you think of it,” Cr Allgood said.

“We’re particularly interested in your thoughts about how we can improve it. The information you provide is important and will help influence the future vision for the station - how it could function and what it could look like.”

For those interested in the project and to be kept informed about its progress and events, a project page has been set up, including a link to a quick online survey for residents to share thoughts.

The survey takes about 10 minutes and will close on May 25 2018, at 5pm.

Hard copy feedback forms are also available at the Ararat Visitor Information Centre and the Ararat Regional Library.
