Active transport review
Blue Mountains 21 May 2018

Blue Mountains City Council is currently inviting feedback from the community on where footpaths, shared paths, bike routes, and accessibility can be improved to support and promote walking and cycling as a choice of transport.

Community feedback will provide valuable insight to the Active Transport Review to guide Council in developing and improving its footpath, shared path and cycle networks for the future and will assist in prioritising works as part of its Integrated Transport Strategic Plan.

It will ensure that this plan, as well as the Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) and the Blue Mountains Bike Plan remain relevant and reflect community needs and priorities. These plans set the broad framework for how Council delivers pedestrian and cycling infrastructure across the City as well as safety, education and promotional programs.

Mayor, Councillor Mark Greenhill said, “The Council has done a lot of work to implement the PAMP in the last year but there is a need to further improve the broader pedestrian and cycling environment to promote active transport. This will support the development of the Blue Mountains as a ‘walkable city’”.

Ward 2 Councillor, Romola Hollywood, said, “We are keen to hear the views of the community on how we can provide safe and convenient bicycle and pedestrian networks, which are essential in promoting active transport as a realistic option for short trips”.

Members of the community wishing to participate can add their comments, suggestions and photos by using an accurate ‘drag and drop’ tool on our interactive map, to highlight areas they wish to see improved for walking and cycling in the Blue Mountains.
