Blue Mountains City Council has recently engaged consultants Jacobs to undertake a floodplain risk management study and plan for the Bullaburra to Linden study area.
Council is calling on those in the community for help to provide real life local flood information which can be used to make sure the model is as realistic and accurate as possible. Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill said, “We are seeking the community’s experiences with local flooding, their view on the impacts of local flooding and potential management of flood risk in the study area. We want to improve our understanding of flood behaviour and impacts.”
This information will be used to inform the flood modelling that will be undertaken and for the development of flood mitigation measures.
The study will cover the townships of Bullaburra, Lawson, Hazelbrook, Woodford and Linden south of the Great Western Highway and Wentworth Falls east of Tablelands Road, where potential floodways were identified in the previous Glenbrook – Erskine Creek Catchment Flood Study.
Council received financial support from the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) to carry out the Study and develop the Plan.
