Members of the Armidale region’s two libraries now have easy access to more than 7000 magazines and newspaper titles from Australia and around the world, thanks to a new service launched at the libraries this month.
Armidale War Memorial Library and Guyra Library have signed up with Pressreader, an online news service that enables readers to access to publications in multiple languages.
“It gives our members an even greater variety of newspapers and magazines they can access wherever they are and whenever they like,” Systems Librarian Martin Mantle said.
“They can read the full issues of thousands of publications, as well as quickly browsing the top stories.
“Members can download the Pressreader App, from the App store for Apple devices or the Google Play Store for Android phones, and start accessing the publications now.”
The Guyra and Armidale libraries both offer a range of printed copies of popular magazines and newspapers. However, this latest step in the expansion of online alternatives for members gives a greater range of choice, Mr Mantle said.
The Armidale library is open Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturdays 10am to 1pm. Guyra Library is open 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturdays.
