New pedestrian refuge to improve safety at Black Rock Shopping Centre
Bayside City Council 25 May 2018

Pedestrian safety at Black Rock village will be significantly improved by the installation of a new pedestrian refuge island at the intersection of Ebden Avenue and Balcombe Road.

The pedestrian refuge will enable pedestrians to cross Ebden Avenue in two stages, allowing pedestrians to concentrate on traffic from one direction at a time when crossing the road.

These works are part of Bayside City Council’s investment in improving pedestrian safety on key walking routes.

The Council Plan 2017-2021 prioritises walking and cycling as the preferred modes of transport for short trips in Bayside.

These works will start Tuesday 12 June 2018 and will take five weeks to complete.
