HomeNews Articles2018May 2018 New Place Manager to Strengthen Council and Community RelationsTamworth Regional Council has taken a further step towards strengthening its relationship with the local Manilla community with the appointment of Lisa Hannaford to the position of Place Manager North – a role which will service the towns of Barraba, Manilla, Somerton and Attunga.
Ms Hannaford, who has previously worked in customer service at Tamworth Regional Council in Barraba, is a dedicated member of the local community and is excited about her new role with Council.
“I’m really looking forward to working closely with Manilla residents to ensure the community’s needs are communicated directly to Council.
“This role provides an incredible opportunity to work with the community to ensure key Council projects are delivered successfully and to also identify exciting new opportunities for the future - it is important that the community feels heard and is given the opportunity to be involved in any future plans for the town,” she said.
The new role will see Ms Hannaford act as the responsible liaison officer for Council’s involvement in all activities in Manilla, and act as a key coordinating officer for community led initiatives, including identifying and facilitating funding opportunities.
Mr Chris Weber, Director of Corporate and Governance, Tamworth Regional Council said the role provides greater opportunity for Manilla residents to communicate directly with Council and provide feedback on important issues affecting the town.
“This position is an integral link between Council and the broader community and we are pleased to welcome Lisa,” he said.
As Mr Weber explains, the role will ensure that that the community’s vision is translated into key priorities and actions for Council to undertake.
“There are a number of Council initiatives currently underway in Manilla including the Manilla Future Towns Project and construction of the Manilla Water Treatment Plant which will provide a more secure water supply for the town.
“Whilst Lisa certainly has a big job ahead of her, I have no doubt she will become a tremendous asset to the town,” he said.
