Eurobodalla Shire Council urges all partygoers this summer to catch the Batemans Bay and Narooma Night Bus as part of their Plan B.

The Night Bus has been successfully operating in the Eurobodalla for the past few years and will provide a safe and cheap late night transport option in Batemans Bay on 24, 28 and 31 December and Australia Day, 26 January and in Narooma on 24, 27, 28 and 31 December.

Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor, Lindsay Brown, says the consequences of drinking and driving can be disastrous and definitely not worth the risk so if you are drinking, do not drive and always have a Plan B.

"Over the summer period, Police will be stepping up RBT operations so be responsible these holidays and don't drink and drive," said Cr Brown.

"It is important not to walk home while intoxicated either as you will be unpredictable, uncoordinated and your reflexes will be slower. If you haven't organised another way home at closing time, the Night Bus can get you there safely."

Others options to get home safely include sharing a taxi with friends or using a licensed venue's courtesy buses, Cr Brown says.

Drivers also need to be aware their blood alcohol content could still be over the legal limit the morning after a night out. "Only time will decrease the blood alcohol content so if you are planning to drive in the morning, only drink one or two drinks the night before," Cr Brown said.

The Batemans Bay Night Bus is supported by the Bayview Hotel, Mariners on the Waterfront and Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. The Narooma Night Bus is supported by O'Briens Hotel, Club Narooma and Narooma Golf Club.
