Council is getting ready to spray the sports fields and reserves in Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma and at Riverside Park from next Monday 19 August to control the growth of bindii, broadleaf weeds and onion grass.
September is an active growing time for weeds and council will be doing the spraying to reduce any competition with turf grass before the warm season grasses start to grow.
The weed spraying is expected to take about two weeks and to finish on Friday 14 September 2013.
´Javelin´ will be used to control the broad leaf weeds and ´Destiny´ will be used for the onion grass.
There will be signs at entrances to grounds and reserves to let the community know that chemicals are present and to advise people to stay off the areas until the chemicals are dry.
Residents seeking more information on council's weed spraying program are invited to contact David Bohun, Parks Supervisor, at council on 4474 1391.
