Council has adopted a new landscape master plan for Surf Beach Reserve today that will help make sure the open recreation, bush and drainage lands in the area are well maintained.
The Surf Beach Reserve Landscape Master Plan was identified as a priority in council's Recreation and Open Space Strategy and outlines how the area's bushland and recreation spaces can be used.
Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor, Lindsay Brown, says the plan is the result of extensive consultation with the community and members of the Batemans Bay Pony Club.
"I would like to thank residents and the pony club for their assistance with developing this plan," said Cr Brown.
"This is a great plan for Surf Beach and for our whole community. It will make sure these facilities and the natural bushland are well looked after so everyone can enjoy the area."
The master plan includes the projects outlined in the Batemans Bay Pony Club's Business Management Plan and the site maintenance agreement that was signed by the club in August last year.
It also includes the projects the club would like to deliver to help it and council provide a safe and secure facility for members and the community.
The Mayor says the bushland and natural areas within the reserve are to be maintained by council to control noxious weeds and other non-native species.
"Council proposes to revegetate the existing creek lines with native species," Cr Brown said.
