More than 130 local businesses attended council's Economic Climate Forums in Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay last week where they heard about the latest local population and industry trends from economist, Dr Kim Houghton, and contributed to some lively and positive debate.

Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor, Lindsay Brown, says businesses readily took up the opportunity to discuss the issues they were experiencing and possible solutions.

"Council is now collating this information which will be fed back to the community and used to develop future economic initiatives," said Cr Brown.

"Some of the common issues faced by the businesses were the need to retain young people, the level of customer service in the Eurobodalla and the amount of green and red tape," said Cr Brown.

He says the potential solutions to the issues were varied but again some common themes emerged.

"Most business owners agreed that there is a need for greater collaboration between businesses across the Eurobodalla. Council will look at how it can help facilitate this," Cr Brown said.
