Ten Eurobodalla attractions have secured a place on the South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation list of finalists for the 2013 Tourism Awards.

Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor, Lindsay Brown says the awards recognise excellence in tourism. "I commend each of the local businesses for their achievement so far," said Cr Brown.

The entry process was streamlined this year and placed more emphasis on a visit to each site by the judges. Cr Brown says he can see that local tourism businesses made a strong impression on the judges and they will now be able to promote this recognition.

"The successful businesses can display their finalist status on their web site or in their brochures. Customers are very discerning so when you display these types of achievements, they are able to recognise businesses offering a quality product or experience," said Cr Brown.

There are 29 award categories in the 2013 South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation Tourism Awards, including 'Tourism Small Business Operator', 'Family Friendly', 'Tourism Retailing' as well as accommodation, tour and attraction awards.

"Council would like to congratulate all the finalists and is looking forward to celebrating the success of the local entrants when the awards are announced on Wednesday, 28 August in Shellharbour."
