Over six and a half kilometres of concrete shared pathway between Dalmeny, Kianga and Narooma is now complete thanks to the wonderful work and commitment of local volunteers.
The pathway weaves from Dalmeny shops along the headlands and provides stunning views of our coastline. The volunteers have been working to create the path in stages since 2006 and the final leg of the Centenary Drive pathway has now been completed.
Eurobodalla Shire Mayor, Cr Lindsay Brown, says the fundraising and labour of the Narooma-Kianga-Dalmeny Cycleway Group volunteers over the last seven years has created a community and tourism facility that has been and will continue to be enjoyed for decades to come.
"It is thanks to the volunteers' commitment and hard work that Eurobodalla visitors and residents have this amazing facility," said Cr Brown.
"As well as its obvious tourism benefits, the pathway is providing local residents with a great place to exercise and a safe way to ride, walk or jog between Kianga, Dalmeny and Narooma."
"It's just amazing how the four volunteer groups - the fundraising group, the morning tea group, the form workers and the concreters - have been able to coordinate their activities to deliver this fantastic pathway."
He says council is planning to hold a tribute day soon for the volunteers to mark their achievement and members of the community will be invited to join them.
"We would like to offer the volunteers an occasion to get together and congratulate each other on their achievement," said Cr Brown.
"We would also like the community to have an opportunity to thank our fantastic volunteers and appreciate their work. It will be a fun family day."
The date for the celebration is being worked out to suit the volunteers and will be announced shortly.
