Last week, the Live Life Eurobodalla team at council celebrated the signing up of the project's one-thousandth member, Lilli Pilli's Carolyn McKendry.
Carolyn had been making enquiries about volunteering with the Live Life community kitchen program before she signed up and was pleasantly surprised to hear she had received the accolade, says Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor, Lindsay Brown.
"Carolyn is now a member and a community kitchen volunteer and it was great opportunity for the Live Life coordinators to provide her with a gift pack for being our 1000th member," said Cr Brown.
The Mayor says the Eurobodalla Shire Council project focuses on promoting and providing physical activity and healthy lifestyle programs and has been steadily signing up members since it first began in 2010.
"Live Life members are attracted by the variety of programs available to people of all ages and all levels of fitness," Cr Brown said.
To date the project has run 22 Beat It diabetes prevention programs, 11 Food Cents and healthy cooking programs and eight community garden projects. It has also initiated six Indigenous physical activity programs, three Back on your Bike programs and one quit smoking program.
Council has also established local partnerships with businesses and other organisations to enhance the value of the Live Life programs on offer.
"These include the Learn to Swim, Hydrotherapy and Back in the Pool programs run through the YMCA. Live Life Eurobodalla also has Lift for Life, Pilates, dancing and yoga classes on offer which are run by private local business operators," said Cr Brown.
