Woollahra counts down to New Year's Eve

Published: 6 November 2018

Woollahra boasts many fantastic locations to view Sydney’s NYE fireworks spectacular, and each year tens-of-thousands of people flock to the municipality to enjoy the show. If you are preparing to welcome the arrival of 2019 in Woollahra, we urge you to plan ahead to ensure a safe and stress-free New Year’s Eve.

Visit www.woollahra.nsw.gov.au/nye for all the information you will need to plan your celebration, including full details of all local vantage points, most of which are alcohol-free, along with information about traffic changes and road closures.

Many local roads in Darling Point, Rose Bay, Vaucluse and Watsons Bay will be closed to traffic from 3pm on New Year’s Eve, although vehicle access will be available to residents in affected areas and their guests until 6pm. Full road closures will be in place from 6pm until 2am on Monday 1 January.

Council is working closely with the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command to help ensure that residents and visitors have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, and Police and security staff will be on-site throughout the evening at major vantage points.

The best way to get around Sydney on New Year’s Eve will be to take public transport. To plan your trip visit www.transportnsw.info or call 131500.
