The City of Swan has granted $5,000 to Brockman House, a not-for-profit childcare and community centre in Beechboro, to bring its inaugural ‘Coming Together’ community event to life.
Coming Together, set to be held on November 3, is a free family event which will offer access to important hardship support services and resources.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said Brockman House provides an invaluable service for families and children in the City of Swan.
“Brockman House undertakes such important work for our community, providing childcare and family support to those who need it most. We are delighted to be able to support them with their endeavours,” he said.
“In their application, Brockman House said they aimed to make our community stronger, healthier and more resilient both now and in the future – and this is something that resonates strongly with the City’s own values.
“We look forward to seeing our community ‘come together’ in November and wish Brockman House all the best for a successful day.”
Altone Ward Councillor Peter Lyndon-James said the event is funded through the City’s Swan Event Sponsorship program.
“Swan Event Sponsorships provide funding to support events that will promote the City of Swan’s image, increase the general awareness of the region, foster community spirit and pride, and provide employment or volunteering opportunities for residents,” he said.
“The program offers sponsorship to different types and scales of events, from small local community activities to larger projects and major events covering the entire City of Swan region.
“This is just one area of our Swan Community Funding Scheme, which aims to build sustainable local communities and enhance the social wellbeing and development of our community.”
The second round of Swan Event Sponsorships will open in August.
