Kingston Council seeks support to upgrade sporting facilities

Kingston Council is seeking Victorian Government support to upgrade sports facilities for local soccer, netball, football, cricket and bowls clubs.

Applications are now open for a number of sports facilities grants programs and Kingston Council has put forward a range of worthy local projects for investment.

Kingston Mayor Steve Staikos said Council and the Victorian Government had a strong track record of working together to fund new and improved facilities for local sporting clubs.

“We’re keen to continue our strong partnership of investing in top-quality sporting facilities to transform ageing buildings into modern accessible multi-use centres that meet the needs of everyone including juniors, female and athletes with a disability,” Cr Staikos said.

“All the grants require Council investment in the project in addition to Victorian Government funding, and Kingston has put aside money in our future Budgets to ensure these vital projects proceed if our grant applications are successful.”

“I now call on the Victorian Government to support these fantastic local projects.”

Kingston Council will apply for:

Major Facilities Grant (up to $800,000):                        Pavilion Upgrade at Roy Dore Reserve in Carrum.

Minor Facilities Grant (up to $250,000):                        Moorabbin Bowls Club upgrade of the third green

                                                                                             Minor pavilion upgrade at Le Page Reserve in Cheltenham.

World Game Facilities Grant (up to $250,000):              Install hybrid synthetic turf at Edithvale Recreation Reserve and Keeley Park

                                                                                              Installation of sports lighting at Jack Grut Reserve.               

Female Friendly Facilities Grant (up to $500,000):         Dales Park Pavilion Development
