Young photographers shine in the annual Picture This awards

20 April 2018

Kingston’s talented young photographers have been honoured in Kingston Youth Services annual Picture This Awards.

Picture This invited local young people aged 12-25 to enter their favourite photograph for a chance to win great prizes.

The winning entries were announced by Kingston Mayor Steve Staikos at a special event this week.

“The level of talent on show by our local youth is always inspiring and this year was no different,” Cr Staikos said.

Winner: 16-year-old Joshua Brnjac’s Lone Surfer, Into the Depths used a drone to capture a surfer from above, showing their place in the expansive, ever-changing ebb & flow of the ocean.

Runner up: 18-year-old Joshua Ratten’s Lake Windermere was taken during a six-day hike of Tasmania’s Overland Track and captured sunset over Lake Windermere, a brief respite from the wind and pouring rain experienced throughout the rest of the 67km trek.

Third place: 12-year-old Ella Crawford’s Trees of life was taken at a friend’s farm in the Otway Ranges in Victoria.
