A general election of Councillors for Mitchell Shire Council will be held on Saturday 22 October 2016.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to attend a Candidate Information Session, facilitated by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) and will cover:

Introduction to local government What is expected of a councillor How do I become a councillor Questions and discussion in panel format

7pm to 9pm, Tuesday 26 July 2016 Council Chamber, Mitchell Civic Centre, 113 High Street, Broadford

This interactive session will feature a presentation from a visiting Local Government Chief Executive Officer and video interview from an elected Councillor.

Prior to nomination day, the Victorian Electoral Commission and the Returning Officer for the Mitchell Shire Council Election will host a candidate information which will cover the election timeline, the procedures and rules relvent to candidates. Prospective candidates in attendance will be provided a handbook and any relevant forms to candidature.
