Council has engaged consultants Edge Insights to undertake the necessary research and analysis for the project.

The strategy will assist the region in developing sustainable, successful and economically viable actions and investments for the community.

Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Paul Hooper said by building on existing tourism, marketing and planning strategies and policies, the Tourism and Events sector has the opportunity to increase its economic value not only to Ararat, but to the whole Grampians region.

“This strategy needs to have significant input from the community and local stakeholders to help plan for future tourism and event opportunities,” Cr Hooper said.

“I encourage everyone to get along to the upcoming workshop or go online to complete the survey.”

Input from the Ararat community, local businesses, visitors to the municipality and key stakeholders is currently being sought. This input will form the basis of the strategy and help steer the direction of tourism and events in Ararat over the next few years.
