Latest round of Council Community Grants now open

Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Paul Hooper is encouraging local groups and organisations to apply for the latest round of Council’s Community Grants or Sponsorship Program.

Ararat Rural City Council’s Community Support Grants fund projects and activities that build communities, maintain community infrastructure and encourage community groups to work together to benefit from shared resources.

“We encourage organisations to be innovative, creative and address needs within your community,” Cr Hooper said.

To apply for a Community Grant there are four easy steps:

Pick up an information pack and application form from Council’s Municipal Office Hardcopy application forms must be posted to Community Grants Program, Ararat Rural City Council, PO Box 246, Ararat Vic 3377.

Applications for the latest round close at 5pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Cr Hooper said Council’s Sponsorship Program is also available to assist community groups with one off support for a community event or activity.

“From time to time community groups seek in kind support from Council through waving fees for using Council facilities or having a service delivered by Council at no cost,” he said.

“Sponsorships are also available for Council to support a fundraising or community activity.

“The Sponsorship Program provides a fair and transparent way for these transactions to occur.”

Sponsorships can be applied for all year round by writing to Council and addressed to the CEO. Up to $600 of cash and/or in kind assistance can be requested.

Each request will be considered by Council at their next ordinary meeting and applicants will then be notified in writing of the outcome.
