This week, I attended the Australian Local Government Association’s National General Assembly of Local Government in Canberra. The three-day assembly was a fantastic opportunity to discuss a range of issues pertinent to local councils. Hundreds of Mayors and Councillors from across the country gathered in the nation’s capital. I enjoyed talking to counterparts from councils all over Australia. The theme of this year’s event was – Australia’s Future, Make it Local.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking at the Cooma-Monaro Ladies Probus Club meeting. It was lovely to see familiar faces, as well as getting to know more locals. Probus meetings are always very well run, and I enjoyed updating members on what is happening across the Snowy Monaro region.

As part of the rollout of the Stronger Communities Fund Major Projects, playgrounds are being built and/or upgraded right across the region.

Your feedback for this process is very important. Community consultation has now opened for the upgrade of a further two playgrounds, Dalgety and Rotary Oval (Cooma) playgrounds. Both are exciting projects that will enhance the recreational opportunities for local families.

To have your say, please visit our Your Say website where you can view the concept designs and provide your feedback. When constructing a playground it’s important to consult the best minds in the business. That is of course, children. Our project team will visit Dalgety, Cooma Public and St Patrick’s Parish Schools to ask students their thoughts on the playground designs.

If you’re a community group or individual seeking a Council donation/sponsorship between July-December 2018, remember your submission must be in by the close of June.

If you would like further information on the changes to the donation/sponsorship request process, then please call Council. Application forms are also available on Council’s website, and in hardcopy at all Council offices.
