Shellpod, a new artwork from Wombarra artist Gaby Porter and a number of local artists , installed at Coledale Beach.

Wollongong City Council has installed its newest public art sculpture, Shellpod, at Sharkeys Beach, Coledale.

The sculpture is from the Wombarra artist, Gaby Porter and was created by Gaby and a number of local artists including Annette Wellings, Lois Hill, John Haymes and Alan Wetten.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said: “We thank Gaby and the other Shellpod artists for sharing their art. It will be one of the local landmarks in the northern villages. This work shows how public art can inspire and engage people in cultural experiences. Council is truly grateful for this act of generosity from the sculptors.”

Sharkeys Beach is a popular surfing and swimming beach and the Shellpod – gifted to the community and Council – sits adjacent to the southern end of the car park.
