Kingston Council has joined forces with the Floor Covering Institute of Australia (FCIA) to develop young apprentices and improve the Chelsea Public Golf Course.
The FCIA conducted its inaugural week-long residential training workshop at the Golf Course clubhouse in April.
Supported by training organisations, flooring manufacturers and industry representatives, a team of 17 apprentices completely refurbished the flooring of the Clubhouse in less than three days.
Kingston Councillors Tamsin Bearsley and Geoff Gledhill attended the formal handover of the renovated clubhouse to celebrate the apprentices’ efforts.
The program gave flooring apprentices valuable industry experience and allowed the public facility to be upgraded thanks to the program.
